Conscious

I heard the rain patter—as I awoke for life –

The silence of the morning

loomed thick, impenetrable in the air –

As the first breath filled my lungs.

The trickle of water – timely against the glass payne

Fingers and toes wiggling firm, stretching long

For truth in what’s cognizant – God’s hand in pure

Grey – lively trickles, cold and dense—

held pressure to me

The window soon cleared –

And I could finally see.

-Angela Prendergast.

Poem inspired by Emily Dickinson.

First World Problems.

-Individuality.

An idea omitted and replaced with affinity towards identical thinking.

-Identity.

Established through the perception of others.

                 -Selfless Disposition.

Terminology that has been joylessly expunged from souls, replaced with envy and greed.

Compassion.

A subject caught up, lost, and drifted away like stubborn waves of the sea.

Generosity

A word gone to hibernate for the winter, never to return from its gloomy cave.

-Happiness.

Gained from ownership of material items, manifested through flashy colors and gaudy gadgets.

These ideals of the present are the demise of our future.

Writing

March 6th, 2019

After much growing and maturing, I have learned to put the breaks on my emotional reactions. I am a born and raised Italian.. it is in my blood to react quickly and become sassy! However, the past few years have taught me a lot. Pause.

After many experiences with irrational people, I have evolved. I was tired of fighting back with people who could never be wrong. Now I no longer give a reaction to negativity. I think it is extremely important to remember to PAUSE. Do not let emotions cloud judgement and reactions to minor annoyances. If someone is irrational, you will never win. Playing into their games and reacting will spark up their fire. Don’t give their narcissistic drama the time of day or your precious energy; that is YOUR energy and they do not deserve to drain it from you. I remember this by repeating the word “unbothered” to myself in these tempered situations. I challenge you to do the same.

Just tell them to SWERVE and walk away.

Much love. XoXo. Angela
